Transmedia Storytelling

Transmedia Storytelling is defined as the technique of telling stories across multiple platforms and formats.
Essentially it’s a shift from the traditional linear story to one that is multi-dimensional/multi-platform.
On a grand scale think of a movie. Rather than simply watching the movie, viewers can interact with the main characters or view alternate endings on a website, follows those characters on twitters, view images and backstory on flickr.
On a smaller scale think of a classroom or presentation at work: there’s no reason why we can’t use transmedia storytelling to teach around a concept or to present a new product idea.
And it’s easier than you think. Open WizTeach and you have 70 storytelling tools at your disposal, tools that you can use across multiple platforms – from word, to live video, existing presentations, a website or blog, PowerPoint, Prezi….whatever you want.
Use the drawing tools over a word document then jump to a website or live video and continue to tell your story with measurement tools. Maybe open resources you have already created like product drawings or lessons plans and use WizTeach alongside them to help create stories that resonate. You can even use the vote tools to immerse your listeners even further: pose a question and get instant audience feedback and opinion.
Think of an interactive whiteboard as the gateway to great stories, that’s simply where you queue to get on the ride. WizTeach is the vehicle that takes you there. It’s up to you, the storyteller, to decide where you want to go.
